5 Tips to Improve Blood Circulation

Good blood circulation is important for many things, but if you’re at risk for varicose veins and spider veins, or you already suffer from the discomfort, improving the circulatory system can be extremely beneficial.

Not sure if you’re getting the proper blood circulation in your body? Don’t worry – we’ve put together a list of 5 tips that are proven to work:

Quit Smoking. We all know that smoking can damage your body, but did you know that it’s also the top cause for poor blood circulation? You can blame the nicotine found in tobacco products for this one. Quitting isn’t easy to do, but if you suffer from varicose veins, you should create a personalized plan to stop as soon as you can.

Stay Hydrated. They say drinking water is good for lots of things. It’s also incredibly beneficial when it comes to improving blood circulation. Plasma makes up more than half of our blood volume, and 93 percent of that is water. We recommend drinking a minimum of eight glasses of water a day to prevent dehydration, which can slow circulation.

Get lots of exercise. Aerobic exercises do more than just burn fat – they also increase your heart rate and kickstart your circulatory system. Taking just 30 minutes a day to go for a run or a bike ride can greatly improve blood flow.

Take a warm bath. Although only a temporary fix, taking a warm bath can improve your circulation as well. This is because warm water causes your veins and arteries to expand, allowing more room for blood to move around.

Reduce stress. If your daily routine is causing you to stress out, we recommend that you try cutting back. What is the one thing that makes you more strung out? Taking out a big stressor in your life has the ability to lower your blood pressure. Finding a light hobby or low-impact exercise can help you find a balance in your life, which can ultimately improve circulation.
