Bulging veins happen when blood pools in your legs and has trouble returning to your heart. The problem is that this occurrence can lead to worse conditions, such as varicose veins. If you notice that the veins in your legs are starting to bulge, it’s not too late! By making a few changes in your diet, you can helpprevent your chances of varicose veins:

Fiber. Believe it or not, some varicose veins occur because of consistent bowel movement strain. This constant pressure causes your veins to bulge around your rectum and in your legs. But by increasing the fiber in your diet, you can lessen the strain. Fresh fruits and raw vegetables are great foods to help you increase your fiber intake.

Water. Drinking water is good for many reasons, but did you know it can also lessen your chances of painful varicose veins? When rectal pressure puts extra pressure on your legs, your best bet is to drink water, and lots of it. Drinking at least two quarts of water each day will soften your stools, putting less strain on your intestines. Hence, the blood circulation in your legs will return to a more normal state and the bulging will subside.

Vitamins. Keep the walls of your veins strong and rid the possibility of blood clots by adding vitamins to your diet. While vitamin C helps to strengthen your body, vitamins B and E will prevent poor circulation in your veins and arteries. Don’t let the word ‘vitamins’ fool you though – you don’t need supplements to obtain the benefits of B,C, and E. Try foods, such as tomatoes and broccoli, eggs and poultry, as well as nuts and vegetable oils. All of these foods contain nutrients that can help you prevent varicose veins.

Working in an office environment leaves little room for you to get up and move around, especially when there’s work to be done. But luckily, there are a few strategies that willboost your activity during a long day:

Get up and walk. Even if it’s just a quick trip to the fax machine or restroom, try to take regular walking breaks to help increase your blood circulation. Keep a timer if you must; anything to help you remember this small, yet significant, routine.

Desk exercises. If you can’t afford to leave your desk but are feeling stiff, stretch out in your chair. Whether you take one minute or five minutes, performing a few officeyoga techniques or simple stretches can help improve blood flow.

Standing desk. Creating a standing station is the perfect solution for those who work from home. Your goal should be to stand for 50 percent of the workday, so setting up multiple workstations around the house can be beneficial. For example, you can lay your laptop on the kitchen counter and take calls in a different room from your cell phone.

Active meetings. Meetings can be long, which is why we recommend you move them from the conference room to the outdoors. Especially now that the weather is warm, taking a walk with your team is an easy alternative to the traditional meetup. In addition, a bit of fresh air can help the creative process!
